Dispatches from the Bunker Back-Issue Sale
Hello all from Vic here. With Issue #31 coming up in September
it is getting time to 'retire' some more Back Issues of our ASL
Newsletter Dispatches from the Bunker. When #31 is released
I'll be retiring Issues #11 - #20. They will resurface down the line
on the www.aslbunker.com website but while still in print they
will be sold on a first come, first served basis until they are all gone.
E-mail me to getup to date pricing. Also playtesting on #31
continues, see below for details on how to get involved.
Thanks again for your interest and support, Vic.
Greetings from the Bunker to all at yasl. We are cranking up
the playtest for Issue #31, We could use some more help with
it so if you want to earn a copy of Issue #31 just let me know
which scenario below you want to playtest. The 4 new scenarios
we are working on are these:
Roadside Assistance: Great looking small, tourney style scenario
with a stranded German SMG SPW 251 and squad waiting to be
rescued by light armor recon elements on boards 2 & 3. Greek
Partisans are approaching from several directions to eliminate
them and prevent exit. Lots of maneuver and replayability from
that Maine-iac Ted Wilcox.
Block to Bataan: Steve Johns has done it again with another
tourney style classic with desperate elements of the Philippine
26th Cavalry Regiment (along with an AT Gun and Stuart Tank)
\trying to block the Japanese southward advance toward Bataan.
The Japanese have a mixed company of Infantry and 5 Tanks in
support. Great PTO FUN on Board 37.
Pot of Stew: Michael Klautky's latest finds us at Kursk in the middle of the battle at Obayan, both sides have reinforced companies of Infantry with many toys and a bunch of armor support already engaged in battle. Both sides do simultaneous set up either on 2 sets of identical boards or by writing down your positions and then everyone is placed on board with Melees right off the bat a good possibility. A Ton of Kursk combined arms FUN. 4 turn game length makes it playable in one sitting.
138 of the 138th: Andy Hershey leads us back to Red Barricades with this look at the aftermath of the German last ditch November offensive to drive the Soviet remnants into the Volga. the NE quadrant of the map is used with both sides attacking and defending. Medium to large size with the OBs showing the beat up state both sides were on November 17th just before the big Russian counter-offensive north and south of the city. Great to play a new scenario on that classic RB map.
As for Issue #30 was released at the Nor'Easter in March.
These 4 scenarios were included:
Task Force to Cotignac: The latest from Joe Gochinski finds GIs from the 179th RCT aiding a company of French Partisans in trying to wrest the town of Cotignac from a mixed bag of German Rifle troops. Medium sized action on Boards 10, 17, 19 & 24.
The Western Cross: The next in Tom Morin's Operation Rosselsprung series sees a small glider landing by Falschirmjaegers of Gruppe Draufganger into the midst of Tito's Partisans at Driver. Tourney sized that plays quickly once the landing takes place, 7 elite squads for the German and 8 squads for the Yugoslav. Who controls the victory building at game end wins.
Mga Station: Tom tots out the next in his NKVD series with a nasty
NKVD assault on the Railroad Station at Mga in September of '41. The Germans are no cream-puffs with a mix of rifle squads, 5-4-8s and 8-3-8 Assault Engineers. Several Railroad Overlays transform Board 45 into the station and vicinity, brutal city fight as only Tom can design. Light armor support aids both sides.
Lack of Discernment: The latest from Robert Hammond finds us exploring the obscure fighting in Canton, China between Red and Nationalist Chinese. Building Control on Boards 23 & 49 determine the winner with a CVP Cap keeping the Nationalist force honest.
We will also have another article from either Jim Torkelson, this one looking at how night alters both RB and VotG using Urban Nightmare as an example. Carl Nogueira finishes off his Urban Tactical Tips for RB and VotG on the Backpage and I have more regional ASL News.
Also remember Tom Morin's Guadalcanal Campaign is in Issue #28 and his VotG Tribute is in Issue #23.
Back-Issue #11 to current Issue #29 are all still available, # 01 through #10 are now available as pdf. downloads right here on this page, simply click the Download Link at the top of this page and choose the Issue you want to download. For those unfamiliar with Dispatches, it is a 12 page Amateur ASL Newsletter that comes to the greater ASL Community twice a year, in March and September courtesy of the New England ASL Community, including the Bunker Crew and
our yasl Brothers in Southern New England. It typically contains 3 or more New Scenarios, Analysis of each one, a Main Article on any aspect of the game system, Tactical Tips, ASL News and Tournament Updates from our region.
Also I just want to make sure everyone is aware that Back-Issues #01 - #10 are now On-line for Free download at the new Dispatches website www.aslbunker.com The only cost is your time to down load the pdf. files from these now out of print issues.
Thanks again to all my Contributors, Playtesters, and Subscribers, without whom the Newsletter would not be possible. Thanks for your time and consideration, your ASL Comrade, Vic Provost.
